Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit Russia soon. According to reports, the plan for PM Modi's Russia trip is being formulated in conjunction with the annual India-Russia summit.
While the official confirmation of the trip has not yet been made, if scheduled, this would mark PM Modi's first visit to Russia in approximately 5 years.
Previously, PM Narendra Modi had visited Russia in September 2019.
Diplomatic sources informed on Tuesday that Indian and Russian officials are considering Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Russia at the beginning of July. This trip is expected to be brief.
Russian media, citing a Kremlin official, also reported that preparations for PM Modi's visit to Russia are underway. However, no official confirmation regarding this trip has been made by India yet.
PTI, citing the RIA Novosti news agency, reported that Kremlin official Yuri Ushakov has provided information about PM Modi's visit to Russia. Ushakov stated, "I can confirm that we are preparing for the visit of the Indian Prime Minister."
If PM Modi's visit to Russia is confirmed, he will participate in the India-Russia annual summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin after three years.
Notably, this summit has been held 21 times between the two countries. The last summit took place on December 6, 2021, in New Delhi, during which President Putin visited India.
