After a long wait for Covid, the central government is giving a big gift to the employees. Now in the month of September, the salary of government employees will be given with double bonus. Along with this, the house rent allowance and DA have also been increased. This step of the central government has brought a big relief to the employees. Lakhs of central government employees are getting a 28% dearness allowance in their basic salary. Along with this, the House Rent Allowance (HRA) of Central Government employees has also been increased.
While issuing the order, the central government said that the house rent allowance and DA should be increased according to the salary of the government employees. It is to be known that according to the rules, HRA has been increased because DA has exceeded 25%. Therefore, the central government has also decided to increase the HRA to 27%. On July 7, 2017, the Department of Expenditure had issued an order stating that when DA exceeds 25%, HRA will also be revised. Since the dearness allowance has increased to 28% from July 1, it is necessary to revise the HRA as well.
As per the order of the government, HRA is divided into three categories- X, Y, Z according to the cities. After the revision, the house rent allowance for X category cities will be 27% of the basic pay, for Y category cities the HRA will be 18%. Whereas for Z category cities it will be 9% of basic pay.
According to the 7th Pay Commission, the minimum basic pay of central government employees is Rs 18,000. On this basic salary of Rs 18,000, central government employees were getting DA of Rs 3060 at the rate of 17% till June 2021. From July 2021, central government employees have started getting Rs 5040 every month according to 28 percent DA. That is, the monthly salary of the employees has increased by Rs 1980. Under this, the pension of the pensioners will also be decided.
