In order to provide nutritious rice to the NFSA beneficiaries of the National Food Security Act, the government has started a pilot scheme of rice fortification in one district in 15 states.

Union Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said that in order to provide nutritious rice to the National Food Security Act i.e. Pilot scheme of Rice Fortification has been started in a district. Under this, distribution of nutritious rice has started in selected districts of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh.

Explain that under the National Food Security Act i.e. NFSA, about 81 crore ration cardholders of the country are made available cheap food grains. The distribution of nutritious rice will begin very soon in Odisha and Uttar Pradesh. Other states have also been asked to start it as soon as possible. Nutritional rice containing iron, folic acid, and vitamin B12 can overcome malnutrition and anemia.

Orders to send 4 months of grain across the country

Ram Vilas Paswan has ordered the Food Corporation of India (FCI) to deliver four months of grain to every corner of the country to meet the needs of food grains under government schemes. The Union Minister has given this order to FCI in view of the problems arising due to transport during the rainy season. Paswan said through the tweet that the rainy season is starting.

paddy in the Rabi season, a total of 735.81 LMT paddy has been procured so far in the 2019-20 season.

Foodgrains transported by FCI under PMGKAY

As of 14 June, FCI has sent 119.67 lakh tonnes of grain through 4274 rail racks to various states and out of that, 4229 rail racks have 118.42 lakh tonnes of grain unloaded in godowns. Out of 120 lakh tonnes of food grains allocated under PMGKAY, 110.17 lakh tonnes of food grains have been lifted by all states.
