During the coronavirus pandemic, America has imposed strict restrictions on traffic on its borders as a precaution. America will reopen its borders to non-essential travel in November after a 19-month moratorium. However, only those travelers who have applied both doses of the corona vaccine will be allowed to enter America. These new rules will be announced by the US administration today.

Vehicle, rail, and ferry travel between the US, Canada, and Mexico has been restricted to essential activities. It includes business since the early days of the pandemic. Mexico and Canada have been pressurizing the US for several months to ease travel restrictions. Due to the restrictions imposed during the epidemic, many people have to stay away from their families.

According to the officials, travelers entering the U.S. by vehicle, rail and ferry will be asked about their vaccination status. It is a part of the standard U.S. Customs and Border Protection admissions process. At officers' discretion, travelers will have their proof of vaccination verified in a secondary screening process.

Air travel requires proof of a negative COVID-19 test before boarding a flight to enter the US. At the same time, to enter the U.S. by land or sea, travelers meet the vaccination requirement.

AstraZeneca vaccine

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the U.S. will accept travelers who have been fully vaccinated. The vaccines should be approved for emergency use by the World Health Organization.

Officials said the CDC was still working to formalize procedures for admitting those who received doses of two different vaccines. It was fairly common in Canada. That means that the AstraZeneca vaccine, widely used in Canada, will be accepted.

Vaccination-or-testing requirements

The vaccination requirement for foreign nationals comes as the White House imposes sweeping vaccination-or-testing requirements. It affects as many as 100 million people in the US.

On Tuesday, the U.S. Department of Labor completed the initial draft of an emergency regulation. It will require employers of 100 workers or more to be vaccinated against COVID-19 or tested weekly. However, the Office of Management and Budget is now reviewing the order before its implementation.

Mexico has not put in place any COVID-19 entry procedures for travelers. But Canada allows the entry of fully vaccinated individuals with proof of vaccination against COVID-19. At the same time, proof of a negative test within 72 hours of entry to the country.
