Central Government’s Big Decision, Ban on Export of PPE Ends

In the midst of the Corona crisis, the central government has ended the ban on export of PPE medical and the government has allowed the export of PPE. However, the government has imposed a cap of 5 million pieces annually on exports of PPE, second is that the government has continued to ban the export of other PPE materials.

Earlier, the government lifted the ban on the export of 12 essential drugs and 12 active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). The drugs on which exports have been banned during that time include tinidazole, metranidazole, acyclovir, vitamin B1, vitamin B6, vitamin B12 and chloramphenicol.

According to a notification issued by the Directorate General of Trade, the government relaxed export restrictions on 24 pharmacy ingredients (APIs) and medicines, including vitamins B1 and B12. According to the notification, export restrictions on paracetamol and other medicines made of paracetamol will continue as before.

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) had imposed a ban on the export of 26 pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and their compound medicines on March 3, under which the exporter has to obtain a license or permission from the DGFT for export. The export of 24 APIs and their compounds has become easier now, with some pharmacy companies expressing concern about these restrictions.

The production of these drugs depended largely on raw materials coming from China. When factories in China were shut down due to Corona and the raw material of active gradients stopped, then their exports were banned so that they do not suffer in the country.
