Domestic Air Traffic In January Stood At 1.25 Crore, There Was A Growth Of 4.69% On An Annual Basis

Domestic airlines have served 1.31 crore passengers in January 2024. In the same period last year, the domestic air traffic figure was 1.25 crore. According to data released by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on February 15, the number of passengers of domestic airlines grew by 4.69% on an annual basis (YOY) during January.

Indigo's stake was 60.2% in January

Whereas in January 2024, the cancellation rate of domestic airlines was 3.67%. In terms of market share, the share of IndiGo, the country's largest airline, declined marginally to 60.2% in January. After this, Air India stood at second place, whose market share was 12.2%.

According to DGCA data, Vistara and SpiceJet had the highest passenger load factor (PLF). The total cancellation rate for domestic airlines in January 2024 was 3.67%.

During this period, the highest cancellation rate (11.76%) was of Gurugram's regional airline Flybig. This was followed by IndiGo (5%), SpiceJet (3.48%), Air India (2.06%), while Vistara's cancellation rate was 0.86% and Akasa Air's was 0.17%.

Weather was the most important reason for cancellation, followed by technical, operational and commercial reasons. Bad weather was the reason for cancellation of about 82 flights.
