Production of Electricity was affected by the Lack of Coal, Central Government admitted

For the first time, a statement has been issued by the Government of India on the power crisis due to the shortage of coal. The news agency ANI has quoted the Government of India as saying that there has been a lot of improvement in the power crisis. On October 12, due to the shortage of coal, 11 gigawatts of electricity is being produced less than the requirement. On October 14, this has come down to 5 GW.

Meanwhile, Union Coal Minister Prahlad Joshi visited Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) located in Jharkhand and inquired about coal production.

Power Crisis due to lack of coal supply

Many states including Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh have faced Power Crisis due to a lack of coal supply. The Delhi government said that the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has reduced the supply of coal to power plants in Delhi. This has reduced the production of electricity and the government has to buy expensive electricity.

Power plants are not getting coal

However, later Satyendar Jain clarified that there is no power plant in Delhi. Delhi's government buys electricity from other states and supplies it to its people. Power plants are not getting coal, so the companies have increased the prices, due to which the government is suffering. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene in the matter.

 Issue of power crisis was raised by the state governments

When the issue of power crisis was raised by the state governments, Union Home Minister Amit Shah called an emergency meeting and reviewed the situation. The meeting was attended by Energy Minister RK Singh, Coal Minister Prahlad Joshi, besides officials of both the departments as well as NTPC. After the Home Ministry, the Prime Minister's Office also reviewed the power situation.
