Reliance Jio has launched Jio Bharat 4G feature phone for Rs 999. Through this, the company wants to target such customers who are still using 2G phones. The company said that the beta trial for the first 10 lakh 'Jio Bharat Phones' will begin on July 7.
The company has also introduced a tariff plan of Rs 123 for this phone. It will get 14 GB data which will last for 28 days. ie 0.5 GB every day. Apart from this, the facility of unlimited calls will also be available in this plan. Users will be able to make UPI payments through the phone and also use entertainment apps like Jio Cinema and Jio Saavn.
The phone has a compact design and sports a 1.77-inch QVGA TFT screen. It comes with 1000mAh removable battery. Only Jio SIM can be used in this device. Users will get 3 Jio apps pre-installed on the device.
The first app 'Jio Cinema', which offers new web series, blockbuster movies, HBO Originals, sports content and TV shows.
The second app is 'Jio Saavn', in which users get the facility to listen to songs for free. Gets access to a large music library.
The third app is 'Jio Pay'. It is a UPI-based digital payment app. You can use it like other apps like PhonePe, Paytm.
The company claims that Jio Phone's monthly and annual plans are 25%-30% cheaper than other operators. Other operators are offering unlimited calls and only 2GB data for Rs 179, while Jio Phone's Rs 123 plan offers 14GB data with calls.
The annual plan of Jio's new feature phone will come for Rs 1234. It will get 168 GB data. ie 0.5 GB every day. The company says that the annual plans of other operators are Rs 1799. It offers unlimited voice calls and only 24 GB data.
Jio Bharat device will also get torch and a radio. The company claims that this feature is very useful for remote and rural areas. It has a 3.5mm headphone jack through which users can connect earphones. For capturing photos, there is a 0.3MP camera. Apart from this, users can increase the storage capacity up to 128 GB via SD card.
Reliance Jio Chairman Akash Ambani said, 'There are still 250 million people in India who are stuck in the 2G era. These people are using the basic features of the internet even at a time when the world is moving towards 5G. Ambani said that 'when Jio was launched 6 years ago, we had made it clear that no stone would be left unturned to take internet to every Indian'.
Two years ago i.e. in 2021 also, Jio launched its first 4G smartphone JioPhone Next. The price of this phone was Rs 6,499. This smartphone was jointly developed by Reliance Jio and Google. The phone had 13 megapixel rear and 8 megapixel selfie camera. 2GB RAM, 32GB storage, SD card slot supporting up to 512GB was also available in this phone. Although this phone could not be much successful.
