The stock market opened with a fall on the third trading day of this week. Today the Sensex opened down 104.52 points and the Nifty 49.5 points. Earlier on Tuesday, the markets closed with a big gain for the second consecutive day. The Sensex was up 612.60 points at 50,193.33. At the same time, the Nifty closed at 15,108.10 with a gain of 184.95 points.

Japan market declines, gains in Hong Kong

  • Japan's Nikkei index is trading down 454 points at 27,952.
  • China's Shanghai Composite Index declined 15 points to 3,513.
  • Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index is trading up 446 points at 28,589.
  • Korea's Kospi index gained 38 points to 3,173.
  • Australia's All Ordinaries Index has fallen 124 points to 7,175.

On Tuesday, all US markets closed down. The Dow Jones was down 267.13 points at 34,060.70, down 0.78%. The Nasdaq was down 0.56% to close at 75.41 points at 13,303.60. The S&P 500 index was down 35.45 points at 4,127.84. Here, the markets of France and Germany also closed with a fall.

FII and DII data

According to provisional data on the NSE, on May 18, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth Rs 618.49 crore and domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth Rs 449.52 crore. The Sensex closed 612 points up at 50,193 on Tuesday. Similarly, the Nifty was down 184 points at 15,108.
