Volvo India is going to launch the Volvo C40 Recharge Electric Car in the Indian market on 14th June. The 'Volvo C40 Recharge', which can run 371 kilometers on a one-time full charge, can be priced at Rs 60 lakh (Delhi, ex-showroom).
This is the company's second electric car in the country. Earlier, Volvo launched the XC40 Recharge EV in July 2022 at an initial price of Rs 56.90 lakh (Delhi, ex-showroom). The company will assemble the Volvo C40 Recharge EV at its Hoskote plant near Bengaluru. The upcoming electric car will compete with Mercedes Benz, BMW, Audi and Hyundai's Ion 5 in the luxury EV car segment.
The Volvo C40 Recharge EV is available with single and twin motors, with rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive options in global markets. The single motor variant generates 235bhp power and 420Nm torque. The car accelerates from 0-100 kmph in 7.4 seconds.
The twin motor variant of the C40 Recharge generates 402bhp power and 487Nm torque. This all-wheel-drive version can do 0-100 kmph in 4.7 seconds. The top speed of both the variants is 180 kmph. Volvo has not confirmed whether both the variants will be available in the Indian version of the car.
The Volvo C40 Recharge EV is powered by a 78kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The car is claimed to have a driving range of 371 km on a full charge. Charging the car from 10 to 80% with a 150kW DC fast charger will take 37 minutes. The car takes 7-8 hours to fully charge with an 11kW level 2 charger.
The Volvo C40 Recharge is attractive and modern. The company's signature styling elements are found. These include normal radiator grille, projector LED headlamps, 19-inch aero wheels, etc. The car measures 4,440 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width and 1,591 mm in height. The cabin gets a host of intuitive features and ambient lighting along with leather seats.
Safety features like panoramic sunroof, cabin air cleaner, app remote service, pixel lights and Harman Kardon premium sound system have been provided in Volvo C40 Recharge EV. Apart from this, the interior gets adjustable front seats and 60:40 foldable rear seats. The car's dashboard will get a 12-inch instrument panel and a 9-inch center display, with built-in Google apps and services including Google Assistant, Google Maps and Google Play Store.
