Wipro, one of the country's leading IT companies, has given good news for the second time in the Corona period. The company once again announced a hike in salary on Friday. About 80% of the employees of the company will benefit from this salary hike. This salary hike will be applicable from 1st September 2021. Wipro has increased the salary for the second time in the calendar year 2021.
According to the company's announcement, this salary hike will be applicable to employees up to Band 3. This band includes employees below Assistant Managers. Earlier in January 2021 also, the company had announced to increase the salary of 80% of the employees up to Band 3.
Wipro further said that the eligible employees of the C1 band will start getting the enhanced salary from June. This band includes employees from managers and above. According to the company, the average hike for offshore employees in this band has been made in the high single digits. Whereas, for onsite employees, there has been an increase in the mid-single-digit. The company said that the top-performing employees will be rewarded with higher salary hikes.
Releasing the financial results for the fourth quarter of FY 2021, Wipro had said that the company will take all steps to retain employees. Wipro's attrition rate was 12.1% during the fourth quarter. This means that the dropout rate in the fourth quarter was 12.1%. Wipro CHRO Saurabh Govil had said that we are going to give a skill-based bonus and it is ready. In the financial year 2021, the company has hired 10,000 freshers through the campus.
Wipro has become the second company in the country to increase the salary twice a year. Earlier last year, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) had announced to increase the salary twice. TCS had announced to increase the salary in the third quarter of FY 2021 and April 2021. TCS increased the salary at an interval of 6 months. There was an increase of 12-14% in the salary of TCS employees within a span of 6 months. The IT industry is grappling with the crisis of high attrition rates.
