On Wednesday, 282 new cases of coronavirus infected were reported in Odisha, after which the total cases increased to 5,752. A Health Department official said that out of the new cases of infected, eight cases are related to National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel. He said that out of 282, 256 cases have been reported from various isolated centers where people returned from other states have been kept for primary surveillance.
He further said there were 26 local people among the infected who came in contact with someone. COVID-19 has also been confirmed in the investigation of eight NDRF personnel who returned from reconstruction work after the Amphan cyclone in West Bengal. Meanwhile, the administration of Ganjam district has issued a notification saying that in view of the increase in the cases of COVID in the district, all government offices for senior officials will be closed for ten days from Wednesday.
Ganjam district has the highest number of migrant workers returned since May 3 and 1,039 cases of infected have been reported out of which 680 patients were cured, eight died and 342 patients are undergoing treatment. Of the total 5,752 cases of infected in the state, 3,988 patients have been cured and 17 have died, the official said.
