Coronavirus pandemic continues wreaking havoc worldwide. According to worldometer.com, a total of 213,469,242 cases have been reported so far. Of these, 191,039,895 people have recovered, while 4,457,089 people have died.

On the other hand, the Food and Drug Administration on Monday on Tuesday granted full approval to Pfizer-BioNtech's COVID-19 vaccine for people 16 years and older, making it the first in the United States to move beyond a state of emergency use. The decision will help the country to tackle vaccine shortage . United Airlines recently announced that its employees must show proof of vaccination within five weeks of regulatory approval.

Covaxin for Children likely to get DCGI approval soon: Sources

The Central Government and the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) are likely to grant the emergency use authorization to the Covaxin vaccines for children. According to the sources, the administration of both the doses of the vaccine to children has been completed. Now, blood samples sent for the third time to check the effectiveness in terms of producing antibodies among children.

A total of 90 children were included in the trials in Karnataka. The Covaxin trial will take 210 days to complete. But in the present circumstances, the approval of the vaccine for children cannot wait for five-six months. He said, "Final report will come on 210th day. The government and DGCI can take calls any day after 56th day of the trial Emergency use. However, the study period will be there for 210 days. Before also, while releasing Covid vaccines for adults the government of India and DCGI did not wait till the completion of 210 days. "

More than 25,000 cases reported in India:

India has been witnessing a gradual decrease in daily coronavirus cases. According to the latest data from the Union Health Ministry, India reported 25,467 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative count of the cases to 3,24,74,773. With 354 deaths in the last 24 hours, the death toll has increased to  4,35,110.

The country also witnessed 39,486 recoveries in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative recoveries to 3,17,20,112. With this, the country's recovery rate has increased to 97.68 %. On the other hand, India's mortality rate stands at 1.34 %.
