The wearing of Face masks is set to become a "personal choice" in Britain with the further easing of lockdown restrictions, according to a senior UK government minister. Britain's Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick said on Sunday "It will be a different period where we as private citizens make these judgments rather than the government telling you what to do."

He further said, "We will be moving into a phase though, where these will be matters of personal choice and so some members of society will want to do so for perfectly legitimate reasons, but it will be a different period where we as private citizens make these judgments rather than the government telling you what to do."

Preparations for booster shots in the UK:

According to the media reports, Prime Minister Boris Johnson will also end the mandatory wearing of masks on July 19. However, there will be no bar on those who wear it voluntarily. The government will issue guidance from time to time to make people take precautions. Jenrick further said, "I will. I don't particularly want to wear a mask, I don't think a lot of people enjoy doing it, we will be moving into a phase though where these will be matters of personal choice."

On the other hand, the British government is preparing to introduce a booster vaccine to its vulnerable population who have received both doses of the anti-Covid-19 vaccine from September. With this, protection against new variants of coronavirus will be maintained before the upcoming winter season.
