India Achieves Highest Single Day Vaccination Record after Administering 88 Lakh Vaccines

India on Monday achieved the highest ever vaccination record in a single day with more than 88.13 lakh doses administered across the country.

India on Monday achieved the highest ever vaccination record in a single day with more than 88.13 lakh doses administered across the country, according to the government release. According to the Health Ministry, 55 crore 47 lakh vaccine doses have been administered so far under nationwide vaccination drive. The countrywide vaccination drive was rolled out on January 16 with healthcare workers (HCWs) getting inoculated and vaccination of frontline workers (FLWs) started from February 2. The Centre launched vaccination campaign for all people aged more than 45 from April 1. The government then decided to expand its vaccination drive by allowing everyone above 18 eligible for vaccination from May 1.

Congratulating the countrymen, the Health Minister Mansukh L. Mandaviya tweeted, "India achieves the highest single-day record in #COVID19 vaccine doses.Yesterday will go down in the history of the world's #LargestVaccineDrive.Congratulations."

More than 25,000 cases reported in India:

India has been witnessing a gradual decrease in daily coronavirus cases. According to the latest data from the Union Health Ministry, India reported 25,166 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative count of the cases to 3,22,50,679. With 437 deaths in the last 24 hours, the death toll has increased to 4,32,079.

The country also witnessed 36830 recoveries in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative recoveries to 3,14,48,754. With this, the country's recovery rate has increased to 97.51 %. On the other hand, India's mortality rate stands at 1.34 %. There has been a steady decline in active cases of coronavirus in the country. According to the latest data of the Union Health Ministry, in the last 24 hours. The active cases in the country reduced by 12,101. Meanwhile, the number of active cases in the country stands at 3,69,846. The active cases rate in India stands at 1.17 %.
