The lockdown in Delhi has been extended for a week. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Sunday that the lockdown will remain in force till the morning of May 17 and this time it will be more stringent. He said that metro services will also be closed for the next week. Corona cases have reduced, but cannot be relaxed yet. While there's life there's hope.
However, Sunday was a relief for Delhi. In the last 24 hours, 13,336 people were found corona positive here. This figure is the lowest in the last 26 days. Earlier on April 12, 11491 cases were recorded. At the same time, 14,738 people recovered from Corona in the previous day and 273 people also died. So far, 13.23 lakh people have been infected. Of these, 12.17 lakh people have been cured, while 19,344 patients have died. Currently, 86,232 people are undergoing treatment.
Kejriwal said – The biggest problem in Delhi was oxygen. Many times more oxygen was required than the amount of oxygen required on normal days. The oxygen situation in Delhi has been managed with the help of the High Court, Supreme Court orders, and the Center. Earlier such things were heard that 2 hours of oxygen was left in this hospital, 3 hours in that hospital. Now situation is not like that.
He said- Vaccination has also gone very fast. There is a shortage of vaccine stocks. Cooperation is sought from the Center and it is expected that there will be cooperation. We have had discussions with experts, people, and the government. This discussion was also on lockdown. Corona cases are decreasing, but the infection rate is only 23%. In such a situation, it cannot be relaxed.
Kejriwal said that the lockdown needs to be extended. While there's life there's hope. If life is saved then we will do a lot more. We have extended a week's lockdown under compulsion. The lockdown will remain till 7 am next Monday.
