The incident is from the Hanumangarh district of the state. According to the police, the boy had entered the woman's house in an intoxicated state. Reportedly, he first tried to rape the woman, failing which he killed her. After that, he raped the dead body. The brother-in-law of the woman has registered a case against the youth.
The brother-in-law of the deceased told the police that his brother had died three years ago. His 60-year-old sister-in-law lived alone and had no children. She went to meet him at around 10.30 pm on Wednesday, 15 September, and said that her acquaintance Surendra Kumar had come home sometime back and molested her. When she threatened, Kumar ran away with his mobile. The woman requested him to take back her phone.
The man assured her that he would return her phone the next day. He also asked her to stay at his house as it was late at night. But she had to return to look after her cattle. Reportedly, around 1:00 AM, Kumar told a villager that he had strangled the elderly woman to death. When his brother-in-law got the information, he along with other villagers went to his house. There they found her body lying on the cot.
The complainant alleged that Kumar entered her sister-in-law's house with the intention of raping her. However, she resisted after which he strangled her to death. Police registered a case of rape and murder against Kumar under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Thereafter he arrested the accused.
In November last year, a man from Pune grabbed a woman from behind and tried to beat her up. It is alleged that he tried to force her. However, he failed to rape her. After this, he hit his eye with a sharp weapon. Seeing her lying on the road in an injured condition, a young man raised an alarm.
