IIT Madras Placements 2024: Countless young individuals cherish the dream of securing admission to the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, and why not, the placement here is very good.

This year, IIT Madras has released its placement data, showcasing remarkable career prospects for its graduates. In a press release, the institution revealed that 90% of students graduating with BTech and dual-degree degrees have secured career opportunities by the time of their convocation ceremony.

As preparations continue for another successful placement record this year, with over two months left until the 2024 convocation ceremony, the institute remains committed to nurturing and empowering its students for future endeavours.

In the press release, it was further stated that by April 30, 2024, over 80% of BTech/dual-degree students and more than 75% of master's degree students have secured employment.

Across the first and second rounds of campus placements for the academic year 2023-24, 1,091 students were placed in 256 companies. Additionally, out of 300 pre-placement offers, 235 have been accepted.

44 International Job Offers

As per the press release, companies from Japan, Europe, and other countries also offered a total of 44 international job offers. Additionally, during the first and second rounds of campus placements, 85 startups provided 183 offers.

Among the placed students, 43% are in the core sector, followed by 20% in software, and less than 10% each in analytics/finance/consulting and data science. The institute mentioned that the proposed average and median salaries for students are ₹19.6 lakhs and ₹22 lakhs, respectively.

IIT Madras Director Expressed Joy

IIT Madras Director, Prof. V. Kamakoti, expressed delight over the placement trends and reassured parents of students not to worry about their children's careers at IIT Madras. He further stated, "While jobs or placements are an important avenue for a career, we would like to see as many of our students embrace entrepreneurship and provide employment to others."
