Playback singer Arijit Singh's mother Aditi Singh has passed away. She was battling with Covid-19 and was admitted to a hospital in Kolkata in a critical condition for nearly 14 days. According to reports, he breathed his last at around 11 am on Tuesday. Bengali actress Swastika Mukherjee had informed about Aditi Singh's hospitalization on May 6 on social media.

Arijit Singh, 34, hails from Murshidabad, West Bengal. His father Kedar Singh is Sikh, while his mother Aditi is Bengali. He has been singing in Bollywood for the last decade. He made his Bollywood debut as a playback singer with the song 'Phir Mohabbat' from the film 'Murder 2' released in 2011. However, he got his real identity from 'Aashiqui 2', in which his song 'Tum Hi Ho' won many awards. He specializes in the film as well as Sufi, Western Classical, Rabindra Sangeet, Pop, EDM, Ghazal and Indian Classical Zoners.
In December 2019, Arijit was ranked 26th in Forbes' list of 100 highest-grossing celebrities. His property was stated to be Rs 71.95 crore. In 2019, Singh acted in 18 films, including Varun Dhawan-Alia Bhatt starrer 'Kalank', Shahid Kapoor-Kiara Advani starrer 'Kabir Singh', Sushant Singh Rajput-Shraddha Kapoor starrer 'Chhichhore' and Ayushman Khurana-Tabu starrer 'Andhadhun'. The major share of Arijit's earnings comes from his concerts held around the world.
