Army Chief General MM Naravane on Saturday attended the inauguration ceremony of the Golden Jubilee of the Television Wing of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTTI). In Indian films, the colonel father of the beautiful heroine is always shown as khadoos (Strict). He holds a whiskey bottle in one hand and a gun in the other. It really bothers me. I respect creative freedom. But I feel that one should avoid showing any community and character in a clichéd manner.

During this, the Army Chief appreciated the role of mainstream cinema in strengthening the core values, preserving the cultural diversity of the country and inspiring it in times of crisis. Also, said that the officers of the Indian Armed Forces should be avoided to be shown on a pedestal.

The army chief said, 'The country is passing through a challenging phase. During the pandemic, instability has increased on both the west and north borders (citing the borders with Pakistan and China). However, facing these challenges, the Indian Army has become stronger.

General Naravane said that wars are not fought between two armies, but between two countries. His remarks came on a day when the Indian Army said that the Indo-China armies have completed the process of withdrawing their troops at the Gogra confrontation point in eastern Ladakh.
