An avalanche occurred in the camp area adjacent to the international border in Kupwara. Two soldiers died due to Avalanche. By the time the army rescued them, both the soldiers had attained to Veeragati. Martyred soldier Akhelish Kumar Patel was a resident of Gondari village of Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh. Bhim Bahadur, another martyr, was a resident of Dehradun in Uttarakhand.

Due to this Heavy snowfall, a civilian was also died due to falling of trees. Due to this rain, more than 100 trees have been reported falling in different areas of the state. Along with this, electricity supply has also been disrupted due to falling pillars of electricity. At the same time,  rain and snowfall continues on Thursday. It has been raining intermittently in Jammu division since late last night. Normal life has been greatly affected by this. At the same time, snowfall in other hill areas including the valley has attracted the whole country.

Heavy snowfall has started in the mountains including capital Srinagar. Due to this, people are facing problems in traffic, while traffic and telephone services in Srinagar have come to a standstill. On the other hand, the first snowfall of the season gives the tourists a happy atmosphere.

After the announcement of the end of special status of Jammu and Kashmir, the mountainous areas received the first snowfall of this season on Wednesday. High-altitude places of Gulmarg, the famous tourist destination in the Kashmir Valley, received around two feet of snow, while the Tangri area received 1.5 feet of snow.

The Meteorological Department on Tuesday had predicted weather and snowfall in the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh from 5 to 8 November. Fresh snowfall and rain have led to a drastic decrease in temperature from the plains to the mountains and the valley is completely under the grip of cold.
