The IPL 2022 league matches would only be played in Maharashtra, according to BCCI President Sourav Ganguly. After that, the playoff matches will be held at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium. The BCCI has not yet decided on the location for IPL 2022, but it is extremely likely that it would be held in India this time. Previously, half of the IPL 2020 and IPL 2021 seasons were held in the UAE, however, the BCCI has decided not to hold the IPL there this year.

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly stated...

In an interview, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly stated that the IPL 2022 league matches will be held in Maharashtra. All of these matches will take place in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Pune. The host city and stadium for the playoff matches, on the other hand, will be determined later. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is leading the race.

In response to a question about the IPL, Ganguly stated, "This year, it will only be held in India; however, if the number of cases of corona does not rise significantly, the IPL will be held in the country. When it comes to the host stadium, it's a no-brainer. We're considering staging games in Maharashtra. Mumbai and Pune are two cities in India. The host stadium for the knockout matches will be determined later."

Will Dubai host the IPL again?

IPL 2022

In the UAE, the BCCI hosted the IPL 2020 and IPL 2021 for half of the season. Aside from that, Dubai hosted the T20 World Cup in 2021. The Indian Cricket Board has allocated the Emirates Cricket Board Rs 150 crore to host the IPL half-season in 2020 and 2021.

In the UAE, on the other hand, there are just three grounds, all of which have a lot of dew. As a result, in evening matches, the importance of the toss grows. Even in the T20 World Cup, the toss-winning team won the majority of the games. The excitement of cricket has come to an end. This is why the BCCI does not want the IPL to take place in the UAE.

If not India, then where?

Apart from India, the BCCI is considering staging the IPL in South Africa as a backup plan. Even before this, South Africa hosted one season of the IPL. The IPL has also received a formal proposal from the South African Cricket Board. However, IPL matches will be held in Africa only if the number of cases of corona in India rises to the point where it is no longer possible to hold the tournament in India. The BCCI is now considering hosting the IPL within the country.
