Nirmala Sitharaman, the Finance Minister, delivered the budget for the fiscal year 2022-23 in the Lok Sabha today. Mamata Banerjee, the leader of the Trinamool Congress and West Bengal Chief Minister, dubbed the general budget for 2022-23 a "Pegasus spin budget." She claimed that there is nothing in this for the country's regular people.

"There is nothing in the budget for the average people who are suffering from unemployment and inflation," Mamta tweeted. There's a lot of chatter but no action. Pegasus is a budget for a spin.

Derek O'Brien, a senior Trinamool Congress leader, argued that the budget demonstrates Prime Minister Narendra Modi's lack of concern for farmers, the poor, and the middle class. "Diamonds are the government's best buddy," he tweeted. The Prime Minister is unconcerned about farmers, the middle class, low-wage employees, and the unemployed.

The government launched a "criminal attack" on young people's livelihoods

The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI) said that the general budget had no mention of job creation or urban employment guarantees and that the MGNREGA budget was not increased, claiming that this was a "criminal attack" on the youth's livelihood.

Budget 2022

"Who is the budget for?" CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury tweeted. The wealthiest ten percent of Indians hold 75 percent of the country's overall wealth. Only 5% of the property is owned by the bottom 60% of the population. Why weren't the wealthiest people taxed more during the pandemic?" "There was no statement about urban employment guarantee," he asserted. MNREGA's budget remains unchanged from last year's Rs 73 thousand crores. There is a criminal assault on the youth's livelihood.
