Cancer Test: Now, cancer can be detected in just one minute. IIT Kanpur has developed an impressive device that can provide a report within 60 seconds. This device is specifically designed to detect mouth cancer. It takes an image of the inside of the mouth, analyzes it, and instantly delivers the result.
The device will also reveal the stage of cancer. It has been developed by the company Scan Genie, with the assistance of Prof. Jayant Kumar Singh from the Chemical Engineering Department. It is expected to hit the market by December this year. Let’s explore how effective this device might be and what its cost will be.
This device has been developed by Professor Jayant Kumar Singh and his team after six years of hard work. It is a portable device that can be easily carried in a small bag.
Several camps were organized in Kanpur to conduct trials on around 3,000 people. The device has even detected cancer in young adults as young as 22 years old. The testing also included factory workers and individuals working in private jobs.
Prof. Jayant explained that the device is about the size of a toothbrush and is equipped with a high-quality camera and LED. It can be connected to a smartphone, tablet, or iPad.
The camera captures images inside the mouth and sends a detailed report directly to the mobile device. It comes with a power backup and continuously tracks and stores health history. The device provides results with 90% accuracy, and the examination is completely painless.
Prof. Jayant mentioned that the price of this mouth cancer detection device will range from ₹1.5 lakh to ₹2 lakh. The higher cost is due to several imported components used in the device.
Each device can be used to test at least 500,000 people, with the capability to perform tests on about 300 individuals in a single day.
The introduction of this device to the market could bring a major revolution in the medical sector.
