The police are in continuous action mode after spurious liquor wreaked havoc and 40 deaths in Gopalganj, Bettiah and Samastipur of Bihar. Here, CM Nitish Kumar has increased the tension of the officials by convening a review meeting on the strictness of prohibition on November 16.
As a result, the Bihar Police is searching and arresting the liquor traders. Illegal liquor kilns are being broken and it is being ensured that the details of the correct actions are available to the officials before the review meeting of the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister has said that he will review each district.
In the last 24 hours, 19 kilns of country liquor were demolished by running a special campaign in different districts of the state. The maximum action has been taken in the districts of Muzaffarpur, Gopalganj, Bettiah and Samastipur which have died due to spurious liquor.
In these four districts alone, more than 19 thousand litres of country-foreign liquor have been recovered. The police team conducted 749 raids, in which 568 people were arrested. During this, 15,246 litres of foreign liquor, 3435 litres of country liquor, 497 litres of Mahua Chulai liquor and 500 litres of spirit have been seized. Police have registered 347 cases.
71 vehicles engaged in liquor smuggling have been caught. During this, a cash amount of more than eight lakh was also seized. In the police action, a maximum of 16 thousand litres of liquor has been caught from Muzaffarpur district.
Police raided 166 places here in the last few days in which 254 people were arrested. At the same time, maximum raids have taken place in Gopalganj district. In 376 raids, 164 people were arrested and more than 1700 litres of liquor was seized. In 177 raids in Bettiah, about 850 litres and in 32 raids in Samastipur, 410 litres of country liquor and 465 litres of spirit have been recovered.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has said that those who disturb the prohibition of liquor will not be spared. Whether it is businessmen or officers or employees. We have instructed the Chief Secretary and the DGP to keep an eye on everything.
The Chief Minister was answering the questions of journalists after the Chief Minister's program in the public court on Monday. The Chief Minister appealed to the opposition to cooperate in making the prohibition more effective. He said the decision was taken unanimously. This is not my personal thing. This is a public thing. It is in everyone's interest. But today we have a responsibility, so we will definitely take action and we are doing it.
It is most requested that wherever there is information about liquor business, they should immediately inform. The Chief Minister said that continuous action is being taken in the districts and liquor is being caught. But, by crossing the districts it is reaching in other districts, it will also be seen. After all, how did it cross two or four districts? Action will also be taken on such cases as to why the district did not take action in time.
The Chief Minister targeted Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav without naming him. Said that it hurts, people give different types of statements. If you think someone is doing something wrong, report it.
On Sunday, more than 50 women and men attacked the Srinagar police with sticks and stones in Makhnaha village, who arrived to destroy the liquor furnace. SHO Santosh Kumar Jha, who was trapped in the crowd, got injured. He is being treated at the Primary Health Center in Srinagar. The police have started further action by registering two separate cases in this case.
