There has been a significant reshuffle in the Chhattisgarh Congress. Congress has appointed Chauleswar Chandrakar as the state president of the Other Backward Classes (OBC) department. Last month, when the tussle in the Congress over the chief minister intensified, the position of Choleeshwar also weakened. He was removed from the post of Janjgir-Champa district president. Chauleshwar is considered close to Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.
Congress national general secretary KC Venugopal announced this on Friday night. He said, Congress National President Sonia Gandhi has approved the proposal to make Chauleshwar Chandrakar the state president of the OBC department. This appointment comes into force with immediate effect. Till now Krishna Kumar Yadav (Raju) of Bilaspur was handling the responsibility of State President of Other Backward Classes Department. With this announcement, the stature of Chauleshwar Chandrakar has also increased in the state Congress.
He was made the district president of Janjgir-Champa in the executive committee of state president Mohan Markam. After this appointment, there was a situation of controversy in the Janjgir-Champa Congress. Vidhan Sabha Speaker Dr. Charandas Mahant is an MLA from Sakti Vidhan Sabha of Janjgir-Champa. In such a situation, he also opened a front against Choleeshwar. It is said that for this he had also told the state president Mohan Markam, but Chauleshwar was not removed from there.
Even when Bhupesh Baghel became the state president of Congress before the assembly elections, Choleeshwar had got important responsibilities. So he was made the secretary of the state Congress.
