Congress candidate Pratibha Singh has given a controversial statement on the Kargil war amidst the by-polls in Himachal Pradesh. Congress candidate from Mandi parliamentary seat Pratibha Singh said that the Kargil war was not a big war. Our land was occupied by Pakistanis, who were removed. If anyone took part in it, that too was not a big deal. The Kargil war was a small battle. He made this statement while addressing an election rally at Nandi village in Nachan in Mandi district.
Pratibha Singh said that the BJP has given its ticket to an ex-serviceman, as he participated in the Kargil war, but the Kargil war was not a big war. Only Pakistanis were driven out of their own soil. But Khushal Thakur is being projected as if he has been a great soldier and has won. BJP is doing all this only so that it can get the votes of soldiers, ex-servicemen, and family members. People have to put their stamp on the name of development with conscious thought.
Pratibha Singh accused the BJP of doing politics in the Kargil war. He said that Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur was campaigning for the BJP candidate as the main hero of the Kargil war. In the name of the Kargil war, BJP is playing with the sentiments of the army by telling it its victory in this election. At the same time, after his statement, BJP has got an election issue. BJP says that Congress is insulting soldiers and BJP will not tolerate this insult. This will be strongly opposed.
Pratibha Singh has clarified the matter that he has not commented on the Kargil warriors. He only said that this war was the result of the failure of the BJP government, in which our jawans were martyred. Misinformation is being spread against him in the media, which is not right.
Reacting to the statement of Congress candidate Pratibha Singh, BJP State Spokesperson Vinod Thakur said that Himachal is Virbhoomi. It is the land of soldiers. BJP will not tolerate this insult. It is surprising that Congress's Mandi parliamentary constituency candidate Pratibha Singh says that the Kargil war was not a war. 527 brave soldiers were martyred in the Kargil war, out of which 52 were soldiers from Himachal Pradesh.
Congress party has fallen so much for votes that its martyrdom has been insulted. We salute these soldiers on the award of the Param Vir Chakra to Captain Vikram Batra, Major Somnath Sharma, Major Dhan Singh Thapa, and Rifleman Sanjay Kumar. Brigadier Khushal Singh Thakur is a true soldier, who served Maa Bharti in the Kargil War.
