Farmer’s Protest: Tikait Will Reach the Farmers Mahapanchayat in Muzaffarnagar

Sanyukta Kisan Morcha, a farmer organization opposing the three agricultural laws of the Center, has organized a Mahapanchayat in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. Bharatiya Kisan Sangh leader Rakesh Tikait said that a large number of people will participate in this program. At the same time, he said, 'It is impossible to tell the number of people who reached the Mahapanchayat. But I can promise that people will arrive in large numbers. No one can stop the farmers from reaching the Mahapanchayat. If they stop us, we will reach by breaking the barriers.

About 2,000 farmers expected to reach Punjab

About 2,000 Punjab farmers are expected to arrive in Muzaffarnagar in Mahapanchayat. However, they will board a train from Amritsar at 4 am, departing Jalandhar at 5 am and Ludhiana at 6 am on Sunday. Also, 400-500 farmers will travel to Mahapanchayat from dharna sites on the Delhi border. From Tikri and Ghazipur border, farmers are leaving Pali in buses. On Friday night, two buses have left for Muzaffarnagar from the protest sites. The other two left on Saturday morning and two more would leave around 4 pm.

However, Rakesh Tikait says that people are mainly coming from villages. Farmers from Haryana, Maharashtra, and other parts of India are also expected to participate. A total of 500 buses have been hired to take the farmers to Muzaffarnagar.

The SKM plans to announce a 'Mission UP' in the Muzaffarnagar Mahapanchayat and aims at mass mobilization in western Uttar Pradesh. Rakesh Tikait said, 'This Mahapanchayat is not just about elections. There is an election after six months. The farmers of UP are facing problems. Electricity rates are also the highest in UP. Sugarcane prices have not increased since 2016. The Center has increased it by five rupees five paise per kg.

5,000 volunteers will handle the arrangements

According to Rakesh Tikait, around 5,000 volunteers have been assigned duty, and identity cards have been issued to ensure smooth movement so that farmers can reach the ground for the Mahapanchayat on Sunday. He said volunteers have been briefed and an emergency number has been shared. Tikait said, 'All arrangements have been made. We need to see who gets access to the main site. For those who can't get there because of the crowd, we've set up 12-14 screens and 4-5 fields.

Yudhveer Singh, general secretary of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) and a member of the Kisan Morcha leading the agitation against agricultural laws, said issues like central agricultural legislation, sugarcane support price, and power supply would be discussed in the Kisan Mahapanchayat. Also, he said that farmers from across the country including Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, and Maharashtra would participate in this program.

Six PAC companies and two RAF companies will be deployed

Six Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) companies and two Rapid Action Force (RAF) companies will be sent to the 'Kisan Mahapanchayat' on Sunday for farmers' issues, including the Central Agricultural Act.

Saharanpur range Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Preetinder Singh said on Saturday that the incident would be visualized, while five Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs), seven Additional Superintendents of Police (ASPs), and 40 police inspectors would be on security duty.
