Indian Athlete Hima Das Nominated for Khel Ratna Award

The Assam government has recommended the name of the country's top-performing athlete Hima Das, who performed brilliantly in 2018, for the Khel Ratna Award this year.

India's young Athlete Hima Das has been nominated for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award this year. Hima has achieved great achievements in a small career with her talent. Her name has not been recommended by the sports department but by the Assam government.

The Assam government has recommended the name of the country's top-performing athlete Hima Das, who performed brilliantly in 2018, for the Khel Ratna Award this year. Assam Sports Secretary Dulal Chandra Das sent a letter of recommendation to the Sports Ministry on 5 June. While 20 July is the last date for sending the name for the Sports Honors given this year.

Let us tell you that Hima, who hailed from Dhing village in Assam is the youngest player nominated for the Khel Ratna this year. Hima is the first track athlete from India to win the global title at the Under-20 World Championships in Finland in 2018. Apart from the under-20 world title in 2018, Hima won silver in the 400 meters at the Jakarta Asian Games, four times 400 meters relay and gold in the women's four times 400 meters. She received the Arjuna Award in 2018.

Apart from Hima, Neeraj Chopra, wrestler Vinesh Phogat, table tennis player Manika Batra, women's hockey captain Rani Rampal and cricketer Rohit Sharma have also been nominated for the country's highest sports award for this biggest sports honor of the year.
