Taj Mahal Will Not Open From Today, Decision of Local Administration Amid Corona Threat

According to the Unlock 2.0 guidelines, July 6 i.e. today, monuments and historical sites are to be opened across the country from today, but in view of the increasing cases of coronavirus infection in Agra, the local administration has decided to keep the Taj Mahal and the rest of the monument closed at present. It will not be opened yet. Agra District Collector Prabhu N Singh took this decision in a meeting with the Archeology Department.

The District Magistrate's Office informed that keeping in view the current status of the coronavirus in Agra, the historic monuments Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Akbar Tomb Sikandra, etc. are not yet opened till further orders considering all the monuments as "buffer zones". This information was tweeted from the Twitter handle of the District Magistrate's office.

Let us tell you that on Sunday, 15 more people were confirmed infected with the coronavirus in Agra district. With this, the total number of infected people in the district has increased to 1,282. At the same time, 13 people became infection free during this period. With this, the number of patients recovered in the district increased to 1,053. 90 people have lost their lives in the district due to COVID-19. According to District Collector PN Singh, 139 patients are currently under treatment in the district.

At the same time, 12 more patients of COVID-19 died in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday (during 24 hours) and 1,155 new cases of infected have been reported. Information and Home Department Additional Chief Secretary Avnish Kumar Awasthi said on Sunday that 12 people died in the last 24 hours. So far the death toll from the virus in the state has reached to 785. He informed that 1,155 new cases of infected with coronavirus have been reported in the state in the last 24 hours. A total of 18,761 people have been fully cured so far. Thus, the total number of cases under treatment in the state is 8,161 now.
