A SpiceJet plane in West Bengal's Durgapur got badly stuck in the Kal Baisakhi storm before landing at the Kazi Nazrul Islam Airport on Sunday. Although the pilots of the plane were successful in getting the ship to land at the airport even in this heavy storm.
About 40 passengers were injured due to the hiccups of the plane, in which the condition of 12 is said to be critical. This SpiceJet plane was flying from Mumbai to Durgapur.
According to media reports, the SpiceJet plane that flew from Mumbai got stuck in the storm of Kal Baisakhi just before landing at the airport. The plane stuck in the storm stopped in the air for a few seconds before landing. After the plane got trapped in the storm, the luggage in the cabin began to fall, injuring 40 individuals on board.
According to media reports, after the safe landing of the aircraft, all the injured were immediately taken to the nearby Raniganj Hospital for treatment, where the condition of 12 is said to be critical.
The other 30 injured people are stated to be in good health. Former Union Minister Babul Supriyo has expressed grief by tweeting on this accident.
A SpiceJet spokesperson issued a statement saying that flight number SG-945 had taken off from Mumbai to Durgapur. The plane got stuck in the storm and some passengers were injured as a result.
A SpiceJet spokesperson has said that medical aid was provided immediately as the flight reached Durgapur.
Expressing grief over the accident, SpiceJet Express said that we are providing all possible medical assistance to the injured. All the injured are being treated at Raniganj hospital. The seriously injured passengers were referred by the doctors to Andal after first aid. Almost all of the passengers in this accident were said to have received head injuries.
