The central government has issued new guidelines for international travellers amid concerns about the new variant of Coronavirus, ‘Omicron’. Under this, the passenger will have to give their own information on the Air Suvidha Portal.
In the new guidelines, it has been said to prepare a separate place to wait for passengers coming from ‘at risk’ or risk countries. Many states including Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh have issued rules for travellers coming from abroad.
According to the information, according to the advisory issued by the Centre, a self-declaration form will have to be filled on the Air Suvidha portal before boarding. This portal contains information about international travellers who have come to India in the last 14 days. It has also been said in the new guidelines that airlines should implement a proper procedure to check about 5 per cent of the passengers of the flight.
“A separate holding area (where passengers will await the results of RT-PCR test) may be demarcated at each airport with appropriate facilities for passengers coming from ‘at-risk’ countries,” the advisory said. While ensuring that COVID appropriate behaviour can be strictly followed by avoiding crowds. The government has said, ‘Additional RT-PCR facility may be created at all airports as per the need.
Talking to the agency, a GMR spokesperson said, ‘We are aware of the new guidelines and we will be ready with the necessary arrangements in time keeping in mind the new guidelines and the convenience of the passengers.’
He said, ‘During the previous waves of the pandemic also, we had done arrangements and during this also we had prepared such arrangements. We will ensure compliance with COVID-19 norms during the stay of the passenger inside the terminal’.
