Amit Shah Holds Meeting with Manipur CM in Light of Recent Violent Incidents

Manipur Violence: Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a meeting in Manipur on Monday i.e. May 29, in the presence of Chief Minister N Biren Singh and other state ministers, to assess the security situation in the state, which has been plagued by violent clashes between the Meitei and Kuki communities since May 3.

Amidst the escalating situation in the state, Union Home Minister Amit Shah commenced a four-day visit to Manipur on Monday. This visit marks Shah's first trip to the northeastern state since the outbreak of ethnic clashes.

According to news agency PTI, Amit Shah is anticipated to conduct multiple meetings on Tuesday also to evaluate the situation and strategize measures aimed at restoring normalcy.

Manipur Violence: Amit Shah is Scheduled to Hold a Press Conference on Wednesday

As per reports, on Wednesday, Amit Shah is scheduled to hold a press conference in the afternoon to announce the actions undertaken to tackle the prevailing violence in Manipur. Following this, he is anticipated to depart from Imphal on Thursday morning.

In response to the heightened violence in the state, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh recently appealed to the people of Manipur to actively contribute towards restoring normalcy in the violence-affected region.

During the media briefing in Imphal, Chief Minister Biren informed that a total of 38 susceptible areas have been identified in Manipur. To avert any untoward incidents, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) personnel have been deployed in these areas.

According to officials, as reported by PTI, the ongoing ethnic clashes since May 3 have resulted in a tragic death toll of 80 individuals.

On Monday, three people lost their lives due to injuries sustained during the violence, while on Sunday, two individuals were killed in a militant firing incident.
