Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is also the minister responsible for the Department of Space, revealed that the site where the Chandrayaan-3 landed would be named ‘Shiv Shakti Point.

The scientific and spiritual Shiv Shakti Point

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, declared the naming of the landing site during his visit to the ISRO Telemetry, Tracking, and Command Network Mission Control Complex in Bengaluru. The PM also mentioned both the spiritual and scientific significance of the landing site on the lunar surface.

The name Shiv Shakti is an amalgamation of spirituality and scientific prowess. It is based on the cosmic convergence of Lord Shiva which signifies a cosmic balance in the Hindu scriptures. The naming of the landing site embodies unity of human wonders and the magnificent wonders of the cosmos.

It was also stated by the Prime Minister that the naming of the landing site will inspire the younger generations to utilize the prowess of science for the betterment of society as a whole.

Role of Women in India’s Scientific Endeavors

Naming the landing point Shiv Shakti Point highlights the major role played by women scientists in Chandrayan-3.

PM Modi also highlighted the integral contributions of Women scientists in India, which showcases India’s commitment to gender inclusivity and the representation of women in science and technology.

Remembering Tiranga Point: Chandrayaan-2

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also declared that the spot of Chandrayaan-2's crash landing on the lunar surface, where the Indian tricolour was imprinted, will be designated as 'Tiranga Point.

This honour recognizes the Indian space program's endurance and indomitable spirit, as well as the nation's perseverance in the face of adversity
