Covid-19 Update: In the latest update provided by the Union Health Ministry on Thursday, India recorded 199 new coronavirus infections.

The number of active cases has decreased from 2,831 to 2,687. The data, updated at 8 am, also revealed that the death toll has reached 5,31,886, with two new fatalities reported in the last 24 hours.

Furthermore, the overall COVID-19 case tally in India stands at a significant figure of 4.49 crore (4,49,92,293).

The authorities remain committed to managing the situation and mitigating the impact of the virus on the nation.

According to the Ministry of Health, active COVID-19 cases now constitute a mere 0.01 per cent of the total infections, indicating a significantly reduced burden.

The national COVID-19 recovery rate stands at an impressive 98.81 per cent, highlighting the successful efforts in treating and containing the virus.

The number of individuals who have successfully recovered from the disease has surged to 4,44,57,720, demonstrating the resilience of the healthcare system and the dedication of medical professionals.

Additionally, the case fatality rate stands at 1.18 per cent.

In a positive development, the Ministry's website reports that a staggering 220.66 crore doses of the COVID vaccine have been administered across the country as part of the nationwide vaccination drive.

This milestone highlights the tremendous progress in the vaccination campaign, contributing to the ongoing battle against the pandemic.
