The Election Commission convened a meeting today in Delhi with election observers from five states, including Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, to streamline preparations for the upcoming assembly elections.

The meeting, held at the Constitution Club of Delhi, discussed various aspects of election readiness, including security, election expenditures, and strategies for handling potential situations involving candidates, supporters, election managers, and other stakeholders.

The Election Commission's team has already conducted visits to all five states, collaborating with district election officers, superintendents of police, and various departments involved in the electoral process to finalize plans.

The only remaining piece of the puzzle is the announcement of election dates.

Anticipated Voting in November-December

There is a likelihood of assembly elections taking place in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Mizoram, and Rajasthan in November-December.

The term of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly is set to conclude on December 17 this year. The state is currently governed by the Mizo National Front.

In Telangana, the Bharatiya Rashtriya Samithi (TRS) is in power, while the Congress holds office in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan. The terms of the Legislative Assemblies in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan are set to expire in January next year.

With the announcement of the election schedule, the Model Code of Conduct will also come into effect in all five states.
