G20 Summit: In anticipation of the highly awaited G20 Summit scheduled for September in the national capital, Delhi has geared up for extensive preparations.
Keeping the G20 Summit in mind, the Delhi government has declared September 8th, 9th, and 10th as holidays.
During these three days, all Delhi government offices, including those under the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), will remain closed. Additionally, schools in the city will also observe a three-day holiday.
Furthermore, the Delhi Police has issued a comprehensive traffic advisory to ensure smooth operations during the event.
To ensure minimal disruption to the daily lives of citizens during these three days, the Delhi Traffic Police will set up a virtual helpdesk.
This helpdesk will provide information about alternate routes and travel options.
Commuters heading to New Delhi are advised to use the metro system, which will operate without any interruptions or changes during this time.
Starting from the night of September 7th, commercial vehicle entry into the New Delhi area will be restricted due to preparations for the G20 Summit.
However, there will be no restrictions on essential goods transportation. Additionally, buses will not operate in the NDMC area during this period.
If you need to travel to the airport during these three days, it is advisable to use the metro.
Those using their private vehicles are advised to allocate more time for travel due to potential road closures resulting from VVIP movement.
Vehicles that are only passing through Delhi will be diverted to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway. Goods vehicles, however, will be allowed to enter following predetermined routes.
In Control Zone 1, taxis and autos will not be permitted during these three days, but residents of this area and those who book cabs online will have access.
While the metro services will continue without major disruptions, but the Supreme Court metro station will be closed to passengers.
Commuters will neither be able to board nor disembark from this station.
