Is India a $4 Trillion Economy? No Official Statement Yet from Centre

On Sunday i.e. November 19, billionaire Gautam Adani to two Union Ministers and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis among others congratulated India for striking out the USD 4 trillion mark though there was no official assurance if the country had attained the milestone or not.

The National Statistical Office and the finance ministry immediately remarked on the viral social media post on India's GDP crossing USD 4 trillion.

Highly placed sources said that the viral news was false and India was still shy of that landmark.

X was flooded with celebration while there was no official statement on the news

Adani said on Χ, “Congratulations, India. Another two years to go before India evolves into the 3rd largest nation in terms of Global GDP by surpassing Japan at $4.4 trillion and Germany at $4.3 trillion. The Tricolour surge continues! Jai Hind," 

Numerous political leaders, including Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, celebrated the achievement.

Reddy is the Telangana BJP president, and Union Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Development of the Northeast Region as well.

Fadnavis also posted, "This is what visionary, dynamic, leadership looks like! That is why our #NewIndia progressing beautifully! Congratulations to the Indians as our Nation strikes the $4 trillion GDP milestone! More power to you, more respect to you honourable PM @narendramodi ji!."

"Many congratulations BHARAT on becoming a 4 Trillion Dollar Economy! This remarkable accomplishment has been made feasible by the path-breaking reforms introduced and executed by Prime Minister Modi Ji's Government in the last 9.5 years."

India documented GDP growth of 7.8% during the April-June period of 2023-24, the highest in the past four quarters, on the back of double-digit development in the services sector, maintaining its position as the world's fastest-growing significant economy.

The 7.8 per cent GDP expansion in the June quarter is higher than the 6.3% recorded by China during the same period.

According to the National Statistical Office (NSO) data given in August, the agriculture sector gross value added (GVA) recorded a growth of 3.5%, up from 2.4 per cent in April-June 2022-23.
