Militant Firing Claims Life of BSF Jawan, Injures Two Others in Manipur

Manipur Violence: Amidst the escalating violence in Manipur, a brave BSF jawan made the ultimate sacrifice while combating militants. Tragically, the jawan laid down his life during the intense exchange of fire.

Additionally, two Assam Rifles personnel sustained injuries during the gunbattle that ensued between security forces and a group of insurgents in the Serou area.

The incident occurred during the night of June 5-6, as confirmed by army officials.

According to a statement issued by the Spear Corps of the Indian Army, a significant incident took place in the general area of Serou.

Regrettably, one BSF jawan sustained severe injuries, and two Assam Rifles jawans were wounded by bullet fire.

To ensure prompt medical attention, the injured jawans have been airlifted to Mantripukhari.

"Extensive operations were carried out by the Assam Rifles, BSF and Police in the areas of Sugnu/Serau in Manipur. Intermittent firing between security forces and groups of insurgents took place throughout the night of 5-6 June, the security forces effectively retaliated from" officials said.

According to army officials, a joint operation was initiated on Saturday by the Army, Assam Rifles, Police, and CAPFs to conduct Area Domination Operation in the hilly and valley regions of Manipur.

In response to the deteriorating situation, additional security forces have been deployed to these areas, comprising 8-10 columns. Each column consists of approximately 60 soldiers.
