NCP Chief Sharad Pawar to Remain in Post as Resignation Offer Refused

Sharad Pawar Resignation: The Core Committee of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), which was tasked with selecting a new party chief, has rejected the resignation of the current president Sharad Pawar.

Praful Patel, a senior leader of the NCP, announced to the media that the committee had unanimously passed a resolution to turn down Pawar's offer to step down.

After making a public statement on May 2nd about his intention to step down as the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief, veteran leader Sharad Pawar established the NCP Core Committee.

The committee consisted of several senior party members, including Ajit Pawar, Supriya Sule, former Union Minister Praful Patel, and Chhagan Bhujbal.

Praful Patel, who is the vice president and convener of the NCP Core Committee, stated that they will present the resolution to Sharad Pawar and appeal to him to reconsider his resignation as party chief.

Patel also emphasized that the country requires leaders of Pawar's calibre. He described Pawar as a well-respected figure in India and noted that there was a significant negative reaction to his resignation decision. Patel further stated that these sentiments cannot be disregarded.

While the meeting was in progress, a group of NCP workers wearing caps with the message "I am with Saheb" gathered outside and urged Sharad Pawar to reconsider his decision.

On Tuesday, May 2nd, the veteran leader and founder of the 24-year-old Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) surprised party members and supporters by announcing his intention to step down as president.

Pawar's announcement was made at an event that caught party leaders and workers off guard.

Despite his decision to resign as NCP chief, Pawar, who is also a Rajya Sabha MP and a prominent figure in the opposition, reiterated that he does not intend to retire from public life.
