Odisha Unites in Grief: Statewide Mourning Declared after Heartbreaking Train Accident

Odisha Train Accident: In response to the horrific train accident in Balasore, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik declared a day of state mourning on Saturday.

The solemn declaration comes as the devastating incident has claimed the lives of over 280 individuals and left approximately 900 people injured.

This gesture aims to honour the victims and acknowledge the immense loss suffered by the state.

This recent train accident stands as one of the most catastrophic incidents witnessed in India. The collision involved the Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, the Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express, and a goods train.

According to the recent update the death toll from the tragic accident near Bahanaga Bazar station in Balasore district stands at 280.

Additionally, approximately 900 individuals have been reported injured.

Odisha Train Accident: Statewide Celebrations Called Off

The Government of Odisha's Department of Information and Public Relations took to Twitter to make an important announcement regarding the tragic train accident at Bahanaga.

The tweet stated that Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik has issued an order for a one-day state mourning. As a result, all state celebrations scheduled for 3rd June have been cancelled throughout the state.

Odisha Train Accident: Inauguration Ceremony of Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat Express Cancelled

The much-anticipated inauguration ceremony of the Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat Express, scheduled for Saturday morning, had to be abruptly cancelled in the wake of the devastating train accident in Odisha.

Prime Minister Modi was poised to flag off the train at 10:30 in the morning. However, due to the gravity of the tragic incident, it became imperative to call off the ceremony.

The focus shifted towards addressing the aftermath of the accident and extending support to those affected by the tragedy.
