The Supreme Court has ordered the demolition of two 40-storey towers of Supertech Emerald Court in Noida within two weeks. The Supreme Court has directed the CEO of Noida to convene a meeting of all concerned agencies within 72 hours to finalize the schedule for demolition of both the towers.
In fact, a bench of Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice Surya Kant has directed the CEO of Noida to convene a meeting within 72 hours. The Supreme Court has ordered that all relevant agencies be present in this meeting so that the two 40-storey towers of Superteach Emerald Court in Noida can be demolished within two weeks at the earliest. The court said that the CEO of Noida will take all necessary steps to comply with the directions of the Supremr court.
Let us tell you that on January 12, the Supreme Court had reprimanded Supertech for not complying with its orders to demolish both the 40-storey towers of Supertech Emerald Court located in Sector-93, Noida. SC had warned Supertech that if they did not return the money, they would be sent to jail.
Illegal constructions should be dealt with strictly-SC
It is worth noting that last year on 31 August 2021, the Supreme Court gave a big decision in the Supertech Emerald case. The court had ordered the demolition of the 40-storey twin tower of Supertech Emerald within three months. The order stated that illegal constructions should be dealt with strictly, and the rule of law should ensure compliance. Also, the court had directed that, from the time of booking, the homebuyers should be refunded the entire amount along with 12 percent interest, and paid Rs 2 crore to the RWAs of the Emerald Court project for harassment caused by the construction of the twin towers.
