SCO Meeting: The Foreign Ministers of India and China recently met for the second time in two months, this time at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) following the G-20 summit.
The ongoing insecurity and unrest along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) has remained a major issue for India, which it raised on both occasions.
During the meeting, Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang, who was present in Goa, emphasized the need for peaceful and friendly coexistence between India and China, as well as mutually beneficial cooperation.
During the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation's Council of Foreign Ministers meeting, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had a discussion with Chinese Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang on bilateral relations between India and China.
Jaishankar highlighted the importance of resolving the eastern Ladakh border dispute to ensure peace and tranquillity in the border areas for the development of bilateral relations.
The meeting between the two leaders took place at a coastal resort.
During their meeting at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang and Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar discussed the importance of peaceful and friendly coexistence, without directly mentioning the ongoing military standoff in eastern Ladakh since May 2020.
Jaishankar tweeted that the focus of their discussion was on resolving outstanding issues and ensuring peace and tranquillity in the border areas.
This marks the second meeting between the two foreign ministers in the last two months.
