Smriti Irani Bids Farewell to Delhi Bungalow Post Amethi Loss

Senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Smriti Irani has vacated her official bungalow in Delhi. Following her defeat in Amethi and not securing a position in the Union Cabinet, Smriti was required to vacate the bungalow as per the rules.

On Thursday, she bid farewell to the residence. Smriti Irani had been living in the Crescent bungalow at 28 Tughlaq Lane in Delhi for the past 10 years. After the formation of the new Lok Sabha, all former Union ministers received notices to vacate their bungalows.

Defeated MPs Ordered to Vacate Bungalows

According to the rules, MPs who lose in the elections must vacate their government bungalows. These bungalows are then allocated to newly elected MPs.

So far, RK Singh, Arjun Munda, Mahendra Nath Pandey, Smriti Irani, Sanjeev Balyan, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Kailash Choudhary, Ajay Mishra Teni, V Muraleedharan, Nisith Pramanik, Subhas Sarkar, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, Raosaheb Danve, Kaushal Kishore, Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma, Kapil Patil, Bhagwant Khuba, and Bharati Pawar have received notices to vacate their bungalows.

On June 5, the President dissolved the previous Lok Sabha, and the new Lok Sabha was formed thereafter.

Smriti Irani Faced Defeat in Amethi by Over One Lakh Votes

Smriti Irani lost the Amethi seat to the Congress candidate in this election by more than one lakh votes. She contested against Kishori Lal from the INDIA alliance. Kishori Lal defeated her with a margin of 1,67,196 votes.

In the 17th Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi from the Congress had contested against Smriti Irani of the BJP for the Amethi parliamentary seat. In the results, Rahul Gandhi faced defeat at the hands of Smriti Irani.
