'Namo Bharat' Train: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the country's first high-speed train, now officially named 'Namo Bharat.' The project, formerly known as the Rapid Rail, will connect Delhi to Meerut via an 82-kilometre route.

The first phase of this high-speed train was launched today, with passenger service starting from Sahibabad to Duhai Depot.

Approximately 800,000 passengers are expected to benefit daily from the 'Namo Bharat' train, which boasts a top speed of 160 kilometres per hour.

The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS (Regional Rapid Transit System) corridor's first phase, connecting Sahibabad to Duhai, was officially opened for passengers just one day after its inauguration on October 21.

'Namo Bharat' Train: Project Aims to Serve Millions of Residents

The project aims to serve millions of residents in the Delhi-NCR region, providing them with a rapid, high-frequency regional transit system.

'Namo Bharat' will operate at a frequency of one train every 15 minutes, with the possibility of even shorter intervals based on demand.

Delhi to Meerut in Record Time

The Delhi-NCR region boasts a total of eight RRTS corridors, with three in the first phase, including Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut, Delhi-Gurugram-SNB (Shahjahanpur-Neemrana-Behror), and Delhi-Panipat.

The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor, with an estimated cost exceeding ₹30,000 crore, promises to connect Delhi to Meerut in less than an hour via Ghaziabad, Muradnagar, and Modinagar.

The project is set to revolutionize regional travel, offering a more efficient and faster commute for the people of the Delhi-NCR region.
