Australian Open: Garbine Muguruza and Alexander Zverev made it to the Semi-Finals

Spain's Garbine Muguruza reaches the semi-finals of the Australian Open for the first time. She will now face two-time Grand Slam champion Simona Halep. Spain's former number one player, Muguruza defeated Russia's 30th seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 7-5, 6-3 in the Quarter-Finals of Australian Open.

At the same time, Halep defeated Anette Kontaveit of Estonia 6–1, 6–1. Halep has reached here without losing a single set and is now eyeing the title here after the 2018 French Open, 2019 Wimbledon. In the second semi-final, top-seeded local player Ashleigh Barty will face 14th seed Sofia Kenin of America.

German youngster Alexander Zverev reached the first Grand Slam semi-final of his career. He achieved here by defeating Stan Wawrinka 1-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2. They will now face the winner of the match between world number one Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem in the semi-finals of the men's category. Nadal has not lost against Theim in any major tournament, but he is not taking him lightly.
