With the announcement of the dates for the Uttar Pradesh elections, the process of changing sides of the leaders has started. After the resignation of many BJP MLAs and ministers, now veteran Congress leaders are also leaving the party. Formerly Imran Masood and now senior Uttar Pradesh Congress leader and MLA from Hapur, Gajraj Singh joined the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) on Thursday. He was given the membership of the party by RLD chief Jayant Chaudhary.

Has won the elections four times

In western Uttar Pradesh, Gajraj Singh is winning the assembly elections for four consecutive terms on a Congress ticket. Last time too, he had got 31 percent votes from the Hapur seat. Gajraj's leaving the party is being considered as a major setback for the Congress in Uttar Pradesh. If reports are to be believed, Gajraj Singh may be the candidate of the Samajwadi Party (SP)-RLD alliance from the Hapur assembly seat. Gajraj Singh has won the assembly elections from the Hapur assembly seat in the years 1985, 1989, 1993 and 2012. Gajraj Singh has so far contested seven elections on a Congress ticket.

Many veteran leaders are leaving the party

Earlier on Wednesday, BJP MLA Avtar Singh Bhadana also joined the party after meeting Jayant Chaudhary in Delhi. In fact, since the announcement of the dates of the Legislative Assembly elections by the Election Commission in Uttar Pradesh, the process of leaving the party of leaders of all parties including BJP and Congress continues. Because of the political pulse in view of the elections in Uttar Pradesh, veteran leaders have started looking for a safe political place for themselves.

Earlier, Noman Masood, nephew of former Union Minister Rasheed Masood of Saharanpur district and real brother of Imran Masood, has also left Lok Dal and joined Bahujan Samaj Party. The BSP chief has also made him the candidate of his party from the Gangoh assembly seat.
