Former Finance Minister’s son faces CBI raids for allegedly taking 'bribes for visas' to Chinese workers

Congress leader Karti Chidambaram yet again faces CBI raids over an ongoing case in which he allegedly took a bribe of 50 lakhs for facilitating visas to Chinese workers for the Talwandi Sabo Power Limited project, says a report presented by India Today.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had thus been conducting multiple searches at the Karti’s residences and his offices. The Central Bureau of Investigation is conducting its searches in Tamil Nadu, Mumbai, Punjab, Karnataka, and in Odisha

Reacting to the searches, Karti tweeted, "I have lost count, how many times has it been? Must be a record."

Upon finding the entry gate locked, CBI again entered the house of P Chidambaram by jumping the gate. It must be noted that the CBI earlier too used the same way to enter the house of the former Finance Minister. CBI had issued a lookout notice too against him in the case.

What is the matter all about?
The matter is related to Money Laundering. It is alleged that the P Chidambaram, the then Finance Minister in 2007, took bribe of Rs 305 crore to INX Media House. According to allegations, P. Chidambaram, while being the Finance Minister at that time, took a bribe of Rs 305 crore to INX Media House and was granted approval from The Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB).
