The Assam Police has filed FIR and a SIT has been constituted to investigate the matter.

Sarma had instructed the Assam DGP to file a case against Rahul Gandhi  for instigating the crowd to break barricades and try to enter Guwahati. This led to a scuffle between Police and Congress workers in which four police officers and few congress leaders sustained injuries.

The FIR was filed on the congress leader under the sections of IPC which deals with criminal conspiracy and unlawful assembly.
