There is a tussle between the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Apna Dal (Kamerawadi) over seat-sharing. Sources say that if there is no consensus on seat-sharing, then the alliance between the two parties may even break. Several rounds of talks have taken place between the leaders of SP and the Kamerawadi Party regarding seat-sharing, but seat sharing has not been agreed upon. Sources say that Apna Dal (K) has not been able to get the seats where it wanted to field its candidates, due to which there is resentment in the party. Second, in a high profile seat like Sirathu, giving a ticket to Pallavi Patel against Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya has left the party uneasy. Apna Dal (K) believes that a strong leader should have been given a ticket against Maurya.
Sources also say that at the time of the alliance, the SP had assured that it would hold a meeting with him before sharing the seat and a decision would be taken on who should be given a ticket, but this is not happening. The Kamerwadi leaders allege that the SP is fielding its candidates on the seats under its influence on its own volition. This angered the party leaders.
Keshav Prasad Maurya will file a nomination on Thursday
From Sirathu seat, BJP has nominated Deputy CM and sitting MLA Keshav Prasad Maurya as its candidate. Maurya is filing his nomination on Thursday. The Kamerwadi believe that Pallavi will not be able to give competition to such a big leader. A big leader should have been given a ticket from the SP alliance on this seat. Maurya has said that Sirathu is like his family and this time also the public will make him victorious with a huge vote.
Pallavi Patel
Pallavi Patel is the elder sister of Union Minister Anupriya Patel. Apna Dal (Kamerwadi) party has been formed by Krishna Patel, mother of Anupriya Patel. Apna Dal (K) has forged an alliance with SP for the UP elections. Anupriya Patel's party Apna Dal (S) is with the BJP. Apna Dal (S) has so far fielded eight candidates. Sirathu comes under the Phulpur Lok Sabha constituency. Anupriya Patel's father Sone Lal Patel has won this seat. The Communist Party of India wants that this time, Anand Mohan Patel, who left the BSP and joined the SP, should be given a ticket on this seat. In the 2012 Vis election, Maurya defeated Anand Mohan.
